Guangzhou, September 7 - September 3 witnessed the 100-day countdown to the December 12-19 Asian Para Games as well as a fundraising gala themed "Glory of Asia, Light of Life" organised by the Guangzhou Asian Para Games Organising Committee (GAPGOC) in Guangzhou, with total contributions amounting to 30.930 million yuan.

Guangzhou will host the 16th Asian Games and 2010 Asian Para Games in November and December separately, making the first time the two Games to be held in one city. Under guidance of "two Games, equal splendour", Games organisers have been endeavouring to foster an atmosphere of caring for people with disabilities across the city.

The fundraising gala saw lots of response from state-owned enterprises, private enterprises and individuals from all walks of life, making the total amount of contributions to the Guangzhou Asian Para Games 30.93 million yuan. And it also showcased the Guangzhou city as a loving and caring society.

Xu Ruisheng and Chen Guo, Vice Mayors of Guangzhou Municipality, on behalf of GAPGOC, received the donation checks from business corporations and honoured their contributions to the Games.
