The 100-day countdown to the Asian Para Games shall be marked on September 3 with a grand charity show - "the Light of life". In a press conference on August 29, Lin Laoping, Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Asian Para Games Organising Committee (GAPGOC) revealed that tickets to all the competitions shall be given out for free so as to encourage people to watch the Games.

The Guangzhou Asian Para Games will take place from December 12 to 19 and shall consist of 19 sports divided into 432 events. As of August 28, a total of 2,351 athletes from 40 countries and regions had registered to participate. What's more, the organising committee has pledged to cover the accommodation and transport costs for three athletes and two staff from each delegation.

Accessible to the disabled

The Asian Para Games shall also be an opportunity for the government to transform Guangzhou into a disabled-friendly city, with ramps for wheelchairs being added to many buildings and new signalisation for the blind, including audio signal devices for the blind. Public transport will also undergo extensive renovation including wheelchair access to buses and metros. This should be completed by September 30.
