The Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games will open on December 12 just after the 16th Asian Games conclude. Ahead of the event, the Mayor of Guangzhou, Mr Wan Qingliang visited some metro stations, shopping malls and sports venues across the city to enquire into the state of the facilities for the disabled people. The mayor stressed that "Guangzhou should take advantage of the Asian Para Games to install more disabled friendly facilities and become a city of love."

There are about 520,000 disabled people in Guangzhou, 120,000 of which are physically disabled. Before November, 145 disabled tractors and 182 hydraulic lifts will be put into use, covering every metro station in Guangzhou.
