May 25 - The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) recently honoured Procter & Gamble with the Paralympic Amazing Impact Award for its support of U.S. Paralympians through the "Proud Sponsor of Moms" campaign, which launched during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The campaign assisted the moms of more than 250 U.S. Olympic and U.S. Paralympic athletes by helping to defray the cost of travel to Vancouver, Canada.
"P&G's commitment to U.S. Paralympians and their families is unmatched," said Paralympian Caitie Sarubbi. "I am grateful for their active interest and this donation really helped put the Paralympic Winter Games on the map. I would not have gotten to share my first Paralympic experience with my entire family if not for P&G's support."
The USOC provides athletes with many resources and funding and encourages them to pursue their dreams. Many of those dreams begin in their own backyard with encouragement from their moms and come true at Olympic and Paralympic Games around the world. The USOC's Paralympic Amazing Awards are given in six categories and honor individuals and organisations that actively help to make Paralympian dreams come true.
"P&G recognised and honoured the moms who allowed our athletes to pursue their dreams so we are incredibly proud to honour the company with this award," said Charlie Huebner, Chief of Paralympics, U.S. Olympic Committee. "The company's generous donation meant a lot to all of Team USA."
P&G received the Paralympic Amazing Impact Award, which recognises a person or organisation that tells the Paralympic story in an amazing manner, creating awareness and motivating people to action through words, pictures, promotions or film.
"The 'Proud Sponsor of Moms' campaign allowed us to be a part of the Paralympians' experience and to support the athletes and their moms and families during this incredible event," said Marc Pritchard, P&G's Global Marketing & Brand Building Officer. "This is an important way in which we are fulfilling our Company's Purpose, which is to touch and improve lives. We are proud that the USOC has recognised P&G with the Paralympic Amazing Impact Award for our support of Paralympians and their moms." (The End)
