The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has officially published the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games Independent Observer (IO) Report on their website.

In this report the WADA Independent Observers Team for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games recognises the outstanding efforts of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Vancouver Organising Committee for the 2010 Paralympic Games (VANOC) for implementing a comprehensive anti-doping programme. The execution of the anti-doping programme ensured that athletes and athlete support personnel were clear as to their rights and responsibilities relative to the doping control procedures and that those rights were respected throughout the doping control process.

The 15-page report includes the following sections: Governance and Anti-Doping Policy, Anti-Doping Resources and Education, Out-of-Competition Testing, Test Distribution Planning for In-Competition Testing, Doping Control Procedures, The Doping Control Station, ADAMS, Therapeutic Use Exemption Process, Results Management and Transfer of Knowledge. Additionally, three different Appendixes have been placed at the end of the report.

WADA's IO programme helps enhance athlete and public confidence at major events by randomly monitoring and reporting on all phases of the doping control and results management processes in a neutral and unbiased manner.

Since 2000, WADA IO teams have participated in approximately 30 major events including IAAF World Championships, Mediterranean Games, Commonwealth Games, the Tour de France, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.(The End)
