May 13 - Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong has called for concrete and intensified measures to ensure the security and success of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
Liu made the remarks during a two-day tour, which ended Wednesday (May 12), of Guangzhou, in southern China's Guangdong Province, host city of this year's Asian Games, to inspect into the preparations.
The preparations should be done well and in an organised manner, Liu said.
Construction of the stadiums and venues for the Games should be carried out with consideration to their use during and after the Games, Liu said.
Liu called on authorities to intensify efforts in food safety and public security, and to take measures to deal with possible emergencies.
She also told local authorities to learn form the experiences of the Beijing Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games in 2008 and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.(The End)
