Liwan officials might loose their wheels for Asian Para Games

The Environmental Protection Bureau in Liwan District has announced new measures to fight air pollution during the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games. In addition to limiting the number of private vehicles on the road by alternatively banning cars with even or odd number plates, half of the official cars may also be left in the garage. The ban on official cars will only become effective if air pollution becomes serious.

From November 10 to December 19, the API (Air Pollution Index) will decide which emergency plan to take effect. For instance, if the API reaches 80-89, 30 per cent of factories responsible for creating the pollutants will be temporarily closed. If the API ranges between 90 and 110, 50 per cent of these factories will stop operating as well as coal power plants. Finally, if the API rises above 110, 70 per cent of the factories will be closed, all construction sites will stop operating, the number of cars on the road shall be restricted to a minimum and half of the official cars will be taken off the road.
