Award-winning North Lindsey College lecturer Alan Rayment is celebrating after being accepted into the Great British Paratriathlon Squad 2010.
As previously reported Alan has been a wheelchair-user since 2001, having lost both his legs through MRSA and leg ulcers.
He continues to amaze his colleagues and students at the Scunthorpe college by achieving goals which he once thought impossible.
The father-of-two said he was overjoyed when he was accepted to the squad.
He said, "I received an email and I was really nervous and I didn't want to open it.
"When I finally looked at it I was delighted.
"I could not believe I had been given an unconditional offer which means the Coaches are very happy with my progress."
Alan's will be competing in national, European and worldwide competitions against the very best athletes.
"I now have a cycling Coach and a swimming Coach to help me develop.
"My first competition is in June at the National Paralympics which is taking place at Rother Valley Country Park.
"Then I will be going to Ireland to compete in the European championships and then onto the World Cup."(The End)
