There are a number of Italian restaurants in Guangzhou, all quite different in style but with one thing in common: romantic surrounding and expensive bills! A newly opened Italian restaurant is attempting to break with the tradition of expensive bills whilst offering a very homely environment to its patrons. Welcome to Ottimo, a family-style Italian restaurant!
Raffaele and his family-style pizza
Sitting on a brown wooden chair and listening to Italian music,you are no longer in Guangzhou, but somewhere in the beautiful and picturesque Italian countryside. Mr. Raffaele serves a wide selection of traditional Italian dishes full of flavor and character but at prices which would even make the cold and soulless chain restaurants such as Pizza Hut and Papa Jones tremble in fear.
The list of homemade pizzas is exhaustive, all prepared with fresh and tasty ingredients. The traditional pastry is thin and crisp but prices still seem to remain surprisingly low. Anine inch pizza will cost you all 35 yuan whilst the 12 inch version sells for 60 yuan.
But you might say that pizzas are the "bread-and-butter" of an Italian restaurant, quick to prepare but not really a measure of excellence. Then listen-up: Spaghetti with seafood and tomato sauce for 48 yuan, all fresh ingredients, and although a little spicy, it's definitely a success. Ravioli with spinach, ricotta, cheese and tomato is another famous Italian delicacy and once again, the result is satisfying with all ingredients delicately blending together. It's a mouthful of pleasure.
Pizza
We Chinese love snacks, everyone knows that! But when you come to Ottimo, please do notleave without trying their garlic bread with tomato. The fresh tomato mixes perfectly with the olive oil and an interesting spice, making each piece a delightful experience.
