Otley-born Jane Sowerby has been named as one of Great Britain's six alpine skiing entrants to the Paralympic Winter Games in Canada.

Sowerby, a media graduate from Leicester University, will be making her Games debut in Vancouver from March 12-21.

The 34-year-old paraplegic, who lives in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, finished seventh in slalom and seventh in super-G at the 2009 World Championships in Korea.

Sowerby, who made her international debut in 2007, also finished sixth in the super-G at the 2009 World Cup in Whistler.

One of Lloyds TSB's Local Heroes, she is a keen water-skier and also enjoys paragliding and scuba diving.

Sowerby's five Paralympic team-mates are Russell Docker, Tim Farr, Sean Rose, Talan Skeels-Piggins and Anna Turney.
