Located to the east of Guangzhou in Huangpu District, Changzhou Island once was an important port. In Chinese "Changzhou" means "long island" for it is 4.2 km long, 2.1 km wide and covers 7.23 square kilometres.

Today, tourism is one of the island's main sources of revenue thanks to a number of famous cultural relics and beautiful scenery. What's more, with a number of typical agricultural produces, many visitors also come to discover the island's delicacies.

Changzhou Arrowroot

Purple or mauve arrowroots are found in abundance on the island due to the soil which is farinaceous and tender. Arrowroot can be turned into powder and is still used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Huangpu Egg

Huangpu Egg is a very simple and plain dish. Its fame comes from the story which happened in Huangpu District. A visitor was once served this dish made with delicious fresh eggs. It was so tasty that he continuously praised the dish which led to its fame.

Shenjing Grilled Goose

Shenjing Grilled Goose is famous for its crisp-skin and tender meat. Wood from a lychee tree is used to kindle the fire, giving the dish a unique flavor.

Shenjing Bawang Hua

Bawang Hua is a plant which is frequently prepared with pork, peanuts and jujube and made into a very nourishing soup.

Changzhou Rice Cake

There are both sweet and salty Changzhou rice cakes including briny rice cakes, nine-layer rice cakes, sticky rice cakes and so on.

Star Fruit

Star Fruits are tender, juicy, half-sweet and half-sour. They are very popular in the PRD but can be found across South-East Asia.
