Manlia, Philippines – Malaysia will be hosting the 5th Asean Para Games, a biannual multisport event held for athletes with physical disabilities from Asean member nations, from August 15-19 in the nation's capital of Kuala Lumpur.
More than 1,200 athletes and officials from 11 Asean countries - the Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam - are expected to take part in the tournament, which has an estimated 11 sporting events.
This year's Games will have the theme "Asean Moving Together".
In a press statement, organisers said the event "aims to promote friendship and solidarity among persons with disabilities as well as to rehabilitate and integrate persons with disability into mainstream society through sports."
