Tianhe Park

Posted:2009-06-07 19:57:44 Source:Liuhua Lake

It is a large natural park in Tianhe, covering 70.7 hectares (1/7 is a lake).

Other than the nice lake view, it features two state-of-art reproductions of award-winning landscaped gardens – Yuehui and Yuexiu.

The picturesque Yuehui Garden presents typical elegant Ling-nan (Guangdong) landscaping, nestled at lakeside and willows. The scenes of rippling blossoms at stone cliffs and a sea of various palm trees are not-to-miss. The original Yuehui brought Guangdong province the Best Displayed Outdoor Garden Award at the International Horticultural Exposition 1999 in Kunming, China.

The dainty Yuexiu Garden nicely mixes lake view and trees and flowers. Its original was shown at a Flowers Expo in Japan in 2006 on behalf of Guangdong.

A large Floral Garden (Baihua Yuan), 80 years old, boasts popular zones of camellias, azaleas, and crape myrtles.

The Lake-heart Pavilion is another trademark attraction. A long snow-white corridor spans from waterfront to the classical pavilion at the lake's centre, giving feminine beauty.

Many people run for health at lakeside and on the paths inside.

The park is well connected by lots of bus lines, and even near the metro line 5, which will operate at the end of 2009.

It used to be an official forest conservation of Guangzhou. The park was set up in 1928, and its name was changed to be Zhongshan Park in 1933 to commemorate China's Father of Republic Revolution Dr. Sun Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen).
