GUANGZHOU - A campaign was launched at the Dongfang Hotel in Guangzhou to restore the vision to cataract patients so that they would be able to watch next year's Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

The campaign is co-organised by the Guangzhou Disabled Persons' Federation and the Guangdong Lions Club with the assistance of the Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports under the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou People's Congress, the Games Promotion & Communication Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, the Guangzhou Asian Para Games Organising Committee, the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Guangzhou Municipality and the Bureau of Health of Guangzhou Municipality.

Some 2,010 cataract patients in Guangzhou who are having financial difficulties - will be offered free medical procedures before the 2010 Asian Games. With their vision restored, these former cataract sufferers will be able to watch the Guangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games, in November and December next year.
